RNC Chairman on Obama Administration Dropping Louisiana School Choice Lawsuit

WASHINGTON, DC – This week, the Department of Justice dropped its lawsuit against the Louisiana Scholarship Program, keeping intact a successful initiative that has allowed thousands of disadvantaged students to leave underperforming schools and attend schools of their choosing. Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement:

“This is a victory for the thousands of families who have benefited from school choice in Louisiana, and it is a victory for an education reform movement that empowers parents and students, not special interests and bureaucrats. This lawsuit was an attack on families wanting to give their children the best education possible. I join with those families in celebrating the end of this unconscionable lawsuit, and President Obama should be ashamed of the DOJ’s attempt to force kids back into failing schools.”

Chairman Priebus recently toured St. Benedict the Moor School in New Orleans, Louisiana, and met with parents and students who are benefiting from the scholarship program. He also penned an op-ed in the Times-Picayune: Louisiana’s scholarship program is a way out of bad schools.

“Sadly, we can expect Democrats’ attacks on school choice to continue, whether in the form of lawsuits or intrusive federal regulation. School choice is about ensuring fairness and equal http://cialiscoupon-freetrialrx.com/ opportunity, so when the federal government tries to rob children of a bright future, Republicans will always stand on the side of families and students,” Priebus continued.
