Did Hillary Avoid Hard Choices?
We continue to hope and pray that the 276 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in Nigeria will be found and returned safely to their families.
We’ve just celebrated Mother’s Day, and our hearts break for the mothers in Nigeria who are still separated from their daughters and fearful that they will be sold.
America is asking, “What can we do to save them?” It’s also reasonable to ask, “What could have been done to prevent this?”
That’s a question that is best posed to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
During her tenure, she chose not to designate Boko Haram as a foreign terrorist organization. Had she done so, it would have made it easier to go after them years ago and could have perhaps prevented them from carrying out despicable acts.
So why did
she refuse to call them a terrorist organization?
She has harsh words for Boko Haram now. Why didn’t she take swift action against Boko Haram when she had the ability to do something?
She says that it wasn’t a clear-cut decision, that it was complicated. But Secretary of State John Kerry quickly designated Boko Haram a terrorist organization upon taking up his post.
Why was it a clear decision for him? Why didn’t Secretary Clinton take action?
Was she being overly cautious? Was she avoiding hard choices?
