The legislation ending forced unionization and forced payment of dues to union bosses passed the Indiana House and is up for consideration in the state Senate, before Governor Mitch Daniels (R) signs it into law.

Last night, my staff informed me that the Indiana House just passed Right to Work on a truly historic vote, and that Indiana is on the verge of becoming America’s 23rd Right to Work state.

Of course, it is my hope the Indiana Senate will soon follow suit, and that Governor Daniels will quickly sign Right to Work into law in Indiana so that no Hoosier worker can be forced to pay union dues just to get or keep a job.

I want to congratulate you and your staff on this latest success. You have persevered against the full weight of the union machine, and every American owes you a debt of gratitude for your leadership and dedication.

While Americans should be free to join a union, it’s just common sense that no worker should be forced to do so as a condition of employment.

As you know, in Congress, I have been a strong supporter of a National Right to Work Act, and I have made passing such legislation a centerpiece of my presidential campaign. My administration would work closely with your organization and leaders like Senator Jim DeMint and my son, Senator Rand Paul, for its passage in Congress.

The new members hail from Clark County, Nevada, and reside in the Las Vegas metro area.  All have pledged to spread the word among their respective communities about Dr. Paul’s staunch defense of the fundamental right to bear arms.

A Las Vegas taxi cab driver for more than five years, Aaron Gamboa praised Dr. Paul’s proposals, and his support for Ron Paul stems from a dissatisfaction of the government taxing his hard-earned tips.

“My hard earned tips from my customers are taxed based on the highest percentage allowable by law.  There are already way too many cabs in Vegas to make a good living, and I feel that taxing someone unfairly who lives off tips is way too big of a burden to bear from our government,” said Mr. Gamboa.

“Ron Paul respects the hard work we do,” said Reginald Currie, a Las Vegas resident.

Currie has been in the service industry his whole life.  Currently working two jobs as a waiter, he supports Ron Paul and his stance on tax-free tips.  “The service industry in America respects people who respect our hard work,” he stated.  Mr. Currie firmly believes Ron Paul’s bill, the Tax Free Tips Act of 2011, is a sign that “he understands and stands for hardworking service industry employees in America.”

“I am a big supporter of Ron Paul because he understands that this country was based on the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  His voting record shows his consistency, and this country needs a president who is a man of his word.  I know Ron Paul will restore America,” said Ivy Floirendo, also from the Las Vegas area.

As a five year service industry worker, Ms. Floirendo supports Ron Paul for his goal of helping tip-based workers “keep their hard earned money.”

These new members are everyday hospitality or service sector workers in their community who are representative of the support Dr. Paul enjoys from this large Nevada voting bloc.  They understand and are attracted to Ron Paul’s stance on ending taxation of tips, and for this reason this coalition will serve to amplify Nevada state operations.

Also of Las Vegas, Scott Negaard describes the word “uncertainty” as the defining word for America as long as Mr. Obama has been President.  “If Americans want a stronger America, turn your eyes and ears to see and hear the actions and words of an honest man, a man who cares for the future of ‘We the People.’  I will be voting for honesty and truth this time, and that’s why Ron Paul gets my vote,” said Mr. Negaard.

Sun Valley voter Craig Richards praised the Congressman from Texas, citing his “character and integrity” as reasons for strongly supporting Dr. Paul.

“As a member of the LDS faith and knowing the teachings from the past and present Church leaders, they have spoken about the Constitution as being an inspired document.  Congressman Paul is the only candidate running for President who is speaking up and following the Constitution.  He has upheld and honored it in his voting record, and he has the character and integrity that I trust.  That’s why I strongly support him to be our next president,” said Mr. Richards.

Concerning the active “Latter-day Saints for Ron Paul” coalition, this announcement follows the high-profile endorsements of Overstock.com President Jonathan Johnson, prominent author and chair of the Utah Tenth Amendment Center Connor Boyack, and that of Utah Republican Liberty Caucus Chair Darcy Van Orden.

Yes, debate prep is very important.

While Gallup notes:

U.S. presidents rarely see a spike in public support after their delivery of State of the Union addresses. Since 1978, Gallup has measured only four instances when a president’s approval rating increased by at least four percentage points after a State of the Union address, with Bill Clinton the president in three of these instances and George W. Bush in the other.

While that’s true, I couldn’t help but notice that in 1995 (after the Republican Revolution in 1994), with a pre-speech approval rating 47%, President Bill Clinton saw a post-speech bump of 2%.

The question is, however, was Obama’s speech better than Clinton’s? I’m not so sure, but it’ll be interesting to see later this week how the American people responded.

Thoughts?

While some might be offended by the objectification of women in this ad, from a PR point of view, this is a win/win situation for PETA. First, they get the attention of the media… I found out about it from Fox News. Second, they get the attention of their weakest demographic: Men.

So, love it or hate it, in today’s “sex sells” market, sometimes this is the extreme organizations will go to in order to get their message across.

WASHINGTON—With the Massachusetts Senate seat unexpectedly in play, Democrats are weighing alternative scenarios for passing a health bill without their filibuster-proof majority.

Congressional Democrats and the White House have rapidly stepped up the pace of negotiations on a final bill in the last 48 hours as polls showed a tightening race in Tuesday’s special election.

But Senate leaders need every one of the 60 votes they can call on—including two independents—to pass the bill. A Republican victory in Tuesday’s special Senate election would deprive them of that margin.

It’s also possible that vulnerable Democrats could bolt after a defeat, leaving more votes to make up. Even a narrow victory for Democratic contender Martha Coakley—in one of the nation’s bluest states—could unnerve fellow party members.

Maryland Rep. Chris Van Hollen, a member of the Democratic leadership circle in the House, acknowledged Friday the Massachusetts race would “complicate things if we lose.”

While we’ve known for awhile what was at stake with this special election, it’s disgusting to see what “nuclear options” are being proposed and considered by the various Democrat caucuses.

So far, four options have come to light: Move Quickly, Pass the Senate Bill, Use Reconciliation, or simply Give Up.

This obviously poses a challenge for the Democrats.

Should Scott Brown win, they’re going to have to select one of the four options mentioned above if they want to get their health care bill passed. Unfortunately for them, no matter which option they go with (other than waiting it out and hoping for a miracle), the current Democrat majority is going to lose a huge chunk of their base, those who lean more towards identifying themselves as conservative or moderate Democrats.

Not only will the Democrats lose popularity amongst there base, but they’ll also lose a significant amount of political capital, which is essential during an election year.

Unfortunately for the Democrats, they’ve set up a legislative agenda that will fracture them even more should they not maintain a safe number of reliable votes. After all, this Congress still hasn’t been able to come up with a cap and trade policy that is popular with the American electorate.

Luckily for the GOP, if the Democrats aren’t able to hold Ted Kennedy’s seat, and their filibuster-proof majority, I think it’s safe to say that the Dem’s are going to into a tailspin between now and November, essentially writing their own attack ads, paving the way for a Republican victory.
